Luther Weston Attwood (1857-1932) was born in West Minot, Maine. He graduated from Tufts College in 1891, and was ordained a Universalist minister at Tufts that same year. He became pastor of the Second Universalist Church in South Weymouth, Massachusetts, in 1891, where he remained for twenty-one years. He married Mary Harris Shaw in 1899. Paul Nathaniel Carnes (1921-1979) earned an AB from Indiana University in 1942. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, and on Christmas Day, 1942, he was captured by German forces in North Africa and spent the duration of the war as a German P.O.W. Following World War II, he enrolled in Harvard Divinity School, where he earned an STB in 1948.
